Campaigning for creators’ rights.

Who we are.

The Creators’ Rights Alliance (CRA) is a coalition that exists to promote, protect and further the interests of creators through policy, advocacy and campaigning work. We speak on behalf of 23 major creator led groups, trade associations, and unions, between them representing over 500,000 creator members and over several million individuals working as creators in the UK’s creative industries – from authors, artists, photographers and illustrators to translators, performers, musicians and journalists – on policy issues as diverse as fairer contract terms and working conditions to copyright and intellectual property.

AI and Creative Work

The Creators’ Rights Alliance (CRA) wishes to work with Government and AI developers to ensure that any implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the use of Machine Learning (ML) acknowledges the huge contribution our creators make to our creative and financial economy as well as our cultural wellbeing and to provide all creators with robust protections.

#PayTheCreator

The Creators’ Rights Alliance (CRA) Pay the Creator campaign is calling for creators to be paid professionally and promptly, and to be given the same considerations enjoyed by other workers in the areas of pay, business support and policy making.

We are asking everyone to share the #PayTheCreator hashtag, to link it to their campaigns for better practice and to call out good and bad examples of payment and contract practices.

Fair terms for Creators
A vital campaign

We believe that creators should be treated fairly when they sign contracts - whether it is the terms and conditions of a media platform or the standard contract offered to artists by galleries, record labels and platforms.

That is why we have come together as unions, trade bodies and representatives of creators to call for fair terms for creators.

It’s vital that the makers of every kind of art should be treated fairly when it comes to contracts and rights and terms of engagement.”

“The CRA works to defend and promote the interests of individual creators so they have a chance to work and flourish and win a fair reward for their labour.”

- Sir Philip Pullman
